The O-RAN ALLIANCE recently wrapped up its annual Global PlugFest Spring 2024, where 86 participating companies and institutions, including SynaXG, showcased groundbreaking innovations in O-RAN technology. Co-hosted by 20 operators, open testing and integration centers (OTICs), and academic and research institutions, the spring PlugFest was held from February to May 2024 across 18 labs in Asia, Europe, and North America. This year’s PlugFest focused on five pivotal themes to enhance global efforts in O-RAN testing and integration, speed up the technology development cycle and accelerate the adoption of O-RAN technologies.

Open Fronthaul Conformance Testing
Building on previous fronthaul conformance testing initiatives, the Spring 2024 PlugFest extended the number of multi-vendor interoperable configurations. Leveraging contributions from SynaXG and other participants, these successful O-RAN compliant fronthaul interface testing efforts broaden the range of O-RAN solutions available to mobile operators.
System Testing with Layer 1 Acceleration
The PlugFest verified the market readiness to automatically deploy and configure Layer 1 (L1) accelerators. This L1 verification enables efficient testing across various O-RAN configurations, highlighting SynaXG’s expertise in carrier-grade L1 software and systems integration. SynaXG is among the few companies in the industry providing carrier-grade Layer 1 (L1) PHY software proven in large-scale deployments.
Demonstration of an Integrated O-DU/CU
During the PlugFest, SynaXG demonstrated an integrated O-RAN distributed unit and centralized unit (O-DU/CU) solution that enables both 4G and 5G connectivity.
